What is the NDIS

What is the NDIS

The NDIS provides funding to eligible people with disability to gain more time with family and friends, greater independence, access to new skills, jobs, or volunteering in their community, and an improved quality of life.

The NDIS also connects anyone with disability to services in their community.

This includes connections to doctors, community groups, sporting clubs, support groups, libraries, and schools, as well as providing information about what support is provided by each state and territory government.

The NDIS now supports over 500,000 Australians with disability to access the services and supports they need.

This includes supporting approximately 80,000 children with developmental delay, ensuring they receive supports early so that they achieve the best outcomes throughout their lives.

Frequently Asked Questions

There is a minimum of 2 hours for each shift.

Yes, we offer all support from Monday to Sunday (subject to availability).

It is possible to have a support worker even if you are not eligible for the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) in Australia. You can hire us privately or there are various organizations and government programs that provide support services for people with disabilities or special needs.

To determine if you are covered by the NDIS, you need to meet specific eligibility criteria, which include being an Australian citizen or a permanent resident, being aged between 7 and 65, and having a permanent and significant disability that affects your ability to participate in everyday activities.

We are not registered to provide respite services, but this may change in the future.

Unfortunately, we do not currently offer support for individuals who require assisted breathing, subcutaneous injections or PEG/tube feeding.

Currently, we are unable to support participants who rely on a wheelchair full-time while out in the community, particularly those who require manual transfers. Kind Connect does not have wheelchair-accessible vehicles, so participants must be able to transfer themselves independently and safely to and from the transport vehicle.

However, if you have a wheelchair friendly vehicle, we have fully comprehensive insurance to enable us to accommodate your transport needs.

Testimonials

Below are real testimonials from some of the clients and families we have had the pleasure to work with over the years.

Melanie was an absolute treasure during her time as my care worker. As a quadriplegic, I require a high level of assistance, and Melanie provided it with exceptional skill and kindness. She was incredibly efficient, always anticipating my needs and handling tasks with a calm and capable demeanour. Beyond her professional abilities, Melanie's friendly and positive attitude made her a joy to be around. She seamlessly integrated into our home.  Her common sense and ability to think on her feet were invaluable. My wife absolutely loved having Melanie in our home, which is the highest praise we can offer. We wholeheartedly recommend her to anyone seeking quality care.
